Community Guidelines

Last updated: September 2026 (OENARI 4.2)

OENARI is a tool for people who take their cellars seriously. The social side exists so collectors can share what they taste — not to build another feed to scroll. These guidelines describe what we expect, and what we do when those expectations are not met.

They apply to everything visible to other people: public tasting notes, handles, bios, avatars, taste sessions, and wine clubs — their names, descriptions and noticeboards.

What we expect

Write about wine. Tasting notes are for what was in the glass. Notes used for advertising, link-dropping, or anything unrelated to wine will be removed.

Be a decent person. Disagreement about a vintage is welcome. Harassment, threats, and abuse are not.

No hateful content. Content attacking people over ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, gender, age, or sexual orientation has no place here, and the account behind it will be removed.

Be yourself. Your handle is your identity on OENARI. Do not impersonate another person, a producer, a merchant, or OENARI itself. Handles that suggest official status are reserved.

Keep it clean. No sexual content, no graphic violence.

Do not mislead. Inventing provenance, faking a vintage assessment, or passing off someone else's note as your own undermines the shared database everyone relies on.

Respect the community catalogue. The wine database is shared. Deliberately entering false or vandalising data affects every user, and is treated as seriously as abuse directed at a person. If you spot an error, use Report an error on the wine, producer or vendor.

Host responsibly. If you host a session or run a club, you are answerable for who you let in and what is posted. A session address is shared only with people who accepted — do not share other people's addresses.

Your privacy is yours

Nothing you record is shared until you decide to share it.

  • Your cellar, your purchase prices, and where your bottles are stored are never visible to anyone else. There is no setting that changes this.
  • Tasting notes are private by default. You choose, per note, whether to keep it private, share it with your followers, or make it public.
  • A social profile is off until you turn it on. Until then you cannot be found, followed, or looked up.
  • New profiles are private by default: you approve each follower.
  • A reader can have a note you shared translated into their language. The translation is shown only to people who can already see the note, and is discarded when you edit it.

If you are ever unsure what others can see about you, open Profile → Settings → Privacy. If something there does not match what you expected, tell us — that is a bug, and we want to hear about it.

Reporting

Every public tasting note and every profile has a Report action. Wines, producers and vendors have Report an error.

Choose the reason that fits best and add a short description if it helps. Reports are confidential: the person you report is never told who reported them.

You can also block anyone. Blocking is mutual and silent — you will not see each other's profiles or notes, any follow relationships between you are removed, and the other person is not notified.

Blocking someone does not prevent you from reporting them.

What happens after a report

Every report is reviewed by a person and closed with a decision. Depending on what we find, we may:

  • leave the content in place, if it does not breach these guidelines
  • remove the content
  • restrict or remove the account behind it

Serious breaches — threats, sexual content involving minors, coordinated abuse — result in immediate removal without warning, and are reported to the relevant authorities where the law requires it.

We look at patterns as well as individual reports. Repeated breaches weigh heavier than a single lapse.

If we get it wrong

If your content was removed or your account restricted and you believe that was a mistake, write to support@oenari.com and explain. A person will read it.

Changes

We will update these guidelines as the community grows. Material changes will be announced in the app.
