Following & the Feed
Following is free for every tier and requires an activated profile.
The Community Tab
The Home screen has two sides. Overview is your cellar. Community is everyone else:
- The feed — tasting notes shared by people you follow, plus public notes.
- Tastings — open sessions you can apply to join.
- Wine clubs — clubs you belong to, and public clubs to discover.
- Find people — search by handle.
- Top contributors — leaderboards for most wines, producers, barcodes, label photos, enrichments and public notes added, plus the most collected producers and most used vendors. Only activated profiles appear.
Finding People
Tap Find people in the Community tab and type a handle. Search only finds activated profiles. You can also open a profile by tapping a handle anywhere it appears — on a note, in a session or in a club.
Following Someone
Open a profile and tap Follow.
- Public account — you follow immediately and see their followers-only notes.
- Private account — the button reads Request to follow. The owner gets a request and decides. Until they approve you see only their public notes.
Follows you is shown on profiles of people who follow you, and Follow each other in your lists when it is mutual. Mutual follows matter for one thing: only people you follow each other can be invited by handle to a taste session.
Approving Requests
If your account is private, requests arrive in Notifications → Requests and as a push notification (if enabled). Approve or decline each one. Declining is silent.
Your Lists
Profile → Social shows who you follow and who follows you. Tap Unfollow on anyone at any time; they are not notified.
What Appears in the Feed
Only tasting notes — never bottle additions, consumption, purchases or cellar changes. A note appears when its owner set it to public, or to followers and you are an approved follower. Each item shows the handle, the wine, the score and the note.
Tap a note to read it in full, like it, or open the wine.
Translating a Note
Notes are written in whatever language their author uses. When you open someone else's note, tap Translate under the text to read it in your app language.
- The translation is marked Translated from …. Tap Show original to see the author's own words, and Show translation to switch back.
- If someone has already translated the note into your language, it opens translated right away — in the feed too, where the preview carries a small Translated from … line.
- If the note is already in your language, the app says so and the button goes away.
- Translation is available on every tier. There is a daily limit on new translations; notes that were already translated don't count toward it.
- A translation is only ever shown to people who can see the note, and it is discarded when the author edits the note.
Your own notes have no Translate button.
