Enrich Your Wines

OENARI's database contains over 183,000 wines — but not every wine has complete information. Enriching means adding or correcting details on wines you own or know, and it benefits everyone who has that wine in their collection.

Why Enrich?

Every piece of data you add makes OENARI smarter — not just for you, but for the entire community.

Better drinking windows. The drinking window algorithm relies on wine characteristics like grape varieties, classification, alcohol content, and sweetness. A wine with full metadata gets a precise prediction. A wine with just a name and vintage gets a rough guess. Enriching fills the gaps.

Better search and discovery. Complete metadata means wines show up in the right filters — by grape, region, classification, or style. A wine without its grape varieties listed won't appear when someone filters for Nebbiolo, even if it is one.

Better for the community. When you enrich a wine, every OENARI user who owns that wine benefits from the improved data. One person's effort helps hundreds.

What You Can Enrich

From any wine in your collection, tap Enrich Wine Data to add or update:

  • Grape varieties — The grapes used in the wine
  • Region and subregion — Where the wine is from
  • Appellation — The specific appellation or designation
  • Classification — Quality level (Grand Cru, Reserva, etc.)
  • Wine color and style — Red, white, rosé, sparkling, orange, dessert, fortified
  • Alcohol content — ABV percentage
  • Sweetness level — Dry through sweet
  • Wine images — Upload a photo of the label or bottle

You don't need to fill in everything — even adding one missing field helps.

How It Works

Enrichment submissions are reviewed before they go live. This protects the database from incorrect data while making sure good contributions are applied quickly.

  1. Open any wine in your collection and tap Enrich Wine Data.
  2. Add or update the fields you know.
  3. Submit your enrichment.
  4. Once approved, the updated data is visible to everyone.

You can track your enrichment contributions in your Achievements — there's a badge for getting your first enrichment approved.

Where to Find It

The Enrich Wine Data button appears on the wine detail view for any wine in your collection. You can also access it from the cellar slot info sheet when tapping a bottle in your rack grid.

Tips

  • Start with wines you know well. If you're holding the bottle, the label has most of what you need — grapes, alcohol, classification, and region.
  • Grape varieties have the biggest impact. If you only add one thing, make it the grapes. They're the single most important factor in drinking window calculations and search filtering.
  • Upload a label photo. It helps other users confirm the wine and adds a visual reference to the database.
