Wine Portfolio Premium
Wine Portfolio follows the bottles you bought as investments. You choose which bottles those are. Only they are followed here, and each bottle is followed on its own: its own purchase price, purchase date, valuation and result. Two bottles of the same wine are never merged into one line.
You'll find it in Menu → Tools & Insights → Wine Portfolio.
Putting Bottles in the Portfolio
There are three ways in:
- When you add a wine — switch on In wine portfolio on the last step. If you add several bottles at once, each one goes in as its own bottle.
- From a bottle you already own — open the bottle's Edit screen and switch on In wine portfolio. This affects that bottle only.
- From the portfolio — tap Add bottles, search your cellar, tick the bottles you want and tap Add.
A portfolio bottle carries the Portfolio tag. The tag follows the switch: it appears when a bottle goes in and disappears when it comes out.
To take a bottle out, tap it in the portfolio and choose Remove from portfolio, or switch In wine portfolio off on the bottle. The bottle stays in your cellar.
Purchase date and price matter
The portfolio needs a purchase price to count a bottle's cost, and a purchase date to convert that price and show how long you've held it. A new bottle's purchase date starts at today. A bottle without a date counts from the day it was added to OENARI, and the portfolio says so.
What You See
Holdings
- Cost basis — what the portfolio bottles cost you, in your currency.
- Bottles — how many bottles are in the portfolio.
- Value — the sum of your latest valuations, how many bottles are valued, and the difference against the cost of those bottles.
Value over time
A chart with two lines: value and cost basis, month by month. A bottle without a valuation counts at its purchase price. The chart appears once there are at least two months to show.
Bottles
One row per bottle: wine, vintage, producer, what you paid and when. Valued bottles show the value and the change in percent. Bottles without a valuation show a Value button.
Sold
Bottles from the portfolio that you've sold: how many, Proceeds, Cost and Result, then each sold bottle with its result and how long you held it.
Notes at the bottom tell you when bottles are left out of a figure — for example bottles without a price.
Valuing a Bottle
Tap a bottle to open Your valuation.
- Enter what you think the bottle is worth today, in your currency.
- If you have other bottles of the same wine and vintage in the portfolio, you can tick Same value for your other bottles of this wine in the portfolio. It's off unless you tick it.
- Tap Save.
Every valuation is saved with today's date and kept. That history is what the Value over time chart is built from. The valuation is your own estimate — OENARI never fetches a price for you.
The same sheet has Show bottle, which opens the bottle's Wine History, and Remove from portfolio.
Valuations you enter in the Insurance Report are the same per-bottle valuations, so a value set in one place shows in the other.
Check price
See prices on Wine-Searcher opens Wine-Searcher in your browser, searched for the wine and vintage, in your country and currency. It is a link only: OENARI doesn't read prices from Wine-Searcher.
Selling a Bottle
Sell a bottle the usual way: Consume wine, choose the bottle, and pick Sold as the type. Enter the price you sold it for and the date. Selling requires a purchase price on the bottle.
The bottle then moves to Sold in the portfolio, with what you paid, what you got and the result.
Currencies
Everything in the portfolio is shown in your currency, whatever currency each bottle was bought in:
- Cost is converted at the exchange rate on the day you bought the bottle.
- Sale proceeds are converted at the rate on the day you sold it.
- Valuations are converted at today's rate.
Rates are the European Central Bank's daily rates.
If you've never chosen a currency and most of your bottles were bought in another one, the portfolio asks once whether to switch — for example Switch to SEK or Keep EUR. Either answer is remembered. You can change your currency any time in Profile → Settings → Language, Currency & Units.
PDF Statement
Tap Export PDF at the top of the portfolio to create a statement you can save or share. It contains:
- A summary: holdings, cost basis, value and unrealised result; sold bottles, proceeds and realised result.
- One line per bottle you hold: wine, producer, bought, cost, value, valued date and change.
- One line per sold bottle: bought, sold, cost, proceeds and result.
Values in the statement are your own estimates, not an official valuation, and the document says so.
