CSV Format & Sample File

Building your own file is the most flexible way in. Download a template, fill it in, import.

Download sample — active cellar (CSV) Download sample — consumed wines (CSV)

Both open in Excel, Numbers and Google Sheets. Keep the header row; delete the example rows; save as .csv or .xlsx.

Columns

Column names in your file don't have to match these exactly — OENARI suggests a mapping and you can change it in the app — but using them means less to do.

Column Required Format Notes
Wine name Yes text The name only. Don't put the bottle size or producer in here. A vintage at the start or end of the name is removed if it matches the Vintage column.
Producer Strongly recommended text Winery, estate or house. Makes matching far more accurate.
Vintage Recommended 2018, NV NV, N.V., Non vintage and Multi-Vintage are understood.
Color red, white, rosé, orange, amber Used when the wine has to be created. Local words such as rouge, rosso or vit also work, and so do phrases like Red wine, Vin rouge or Rött vin. Sparkling, dessert and fortified are styles, not colours, and are ignored; so is anything else OENARI doesn't recognise.
Country text English or local name.
Region text
Subregion text Appellation or village.
Grape / Varietal text Several grapes can go in one cell.
Quantity number One row with quantity 3 becomes three bottles. Blank = 1; 0 skips the row.
Price number Per bottle. . or , as decimal separator; spaces, thousands separators and currency signs are fine (1 200 kr, €45,50).
Currency EUR, SEK, USD … ISO code. Blank rows take the currency you pick in the app.
Purchase date YYYY-MM-DD 31.03.2024 and 31/03/2024 are also read. With slashes, 03/04/2024 is read month first (4 March). ISO is safest.
Store / Vendor text Where you bought it. Creates the vendor if new. Unknown, N/A and similar placeholders are ignored.
Bottle size number (ml) 750, 375 ml, 75 cl, 1,5 l or a name like Magnum. 750 if blank. A size in the file is kept even when the wine is matched to an existing one.
Drink from / Drink to year Your own drinking window.
Consumed date YYYY-MM-DD Switches the whole import to consumed mode — see below.
Notes text Free text. Saved on the bottle (active) or as a draft tasting note (consumed).

Consumed wines

To import bottles you have already drunk, include a Consumed date column and map it. Every row is then archived with that date, and the Notes column becomes a draft tasting note you can finish in the Taste tab. Keep active and consumed wines in separate files.

Tips for good matching

  • Wine name without vintage: Barolo Bussia, not Barolo Bussia 2018. OENARI removes the row's own vintage from the name, but a clean name matches best.
  • Producer in its own column: Prunotto, not Prunotto Barolo Bussia.
  • One wine per row; one row per distinct wine and vintage (use Quantity for multiples).
  • Real colours only in Color. Put nothing there for a sparkling or fortified wine unless you know its colour.
  • Save as UTF-8 if your spreadsheet asks. Latin-1 also works.
